Why Daqing for a foreign-invested company
Daqing's economy grew out of the Daqing oilfield, and that still shapes what the city is good for. The industrial base covers upstream oil and gas services, petrochemical processing, oilfield equipment manufacturing, pipeline and valve production, and increasingly environmental and energy-efficiency work. Agriculture processing and cold-chain logistics around the surrounding grain belt are a second cluster.
For a foreign founder, the practical advantages are cost and access: office and industrial space in Daqing is generally cheaper than in Harbin or the Yangtze River Delta, and the city sits on rail and expressway links to Harbin, Qiqihar and the wider northeast. Daqing Sartu Airport connects to several domestic hubs, and Harbin Taiping International Airport is the usual long-haul gateway.
Be realistic about the trade-offs. Daqing is not a consumer market or a tech-talent hub, and English-language professional services are thinner than in first-tier cities. If your China customers are energy, petrochemical or heavy-industry buyers in Heilongjiang and neighboring provinces, a Daqing entity can make sense. If your business depends on international consumer sales or a large bilingual hiring pool, Harbin or a coastal city may fit better.
